FACES OF INDIA
Josh Gluckstein's work is inspired by travels in India in 2015. Predominantly revolved around portraiture, Gluckstein's evocative and sensual use of colour and line captures the characters and emotions of his subjects creating powerful, vibrant imagery of the many faces of India.
Inspired by a year of independent travel, Gluckstein has been producing a portfolio of paintings, drawings and sculptures about India. Instantly mesmerised by the culture, beauty and people of the country, he felt intent on creating a body of work to reflect his incredible experiences. As well as travelling through India for 2 months, Gluckstein volunteered with children in the slums of Rajasthan for 7 weeks, which was an eye-opening and awe-inspiring experience.
Predominantly centered around portraiture, Gluckstein work encapsulates a sense of what it is like to be in India. To feel the subtle emotions of the individuals, and experience the beauty, vibrancy and energy of India.
Gluckstein studied art at Hampstead Fine Arts College and Brighton University.
