LONDON INDEPENDENT PHOTOGRAPHY
London Independent Photography [LIP] was founded in 1987 by a group of like-minded photographers, to encourage and support one another in developing and sharing their personal, expressive approaches to photography. It is maintained by member volunteers and is a not-for-profit organisation.
LIP runs an ongoing programme of practical workshops, talks and events. It also holds regular satellite group sessions in locations around London where members bring their current work for discussion and publishes a magazine ‘Flip’ four times a year. Each group has its own unique character and priorities and evolves independently. LIP activities are designed to bring together photographers with different interests and levels of expertise, who wish to develop and improve their skills and gain recognition for their work.
Eva Turrell formed Crouch End Satellite Group in January 2011. The group has around 20 regular members who meet once a month. Some have previously exhibited in individual and group exhibitions and art shows all over London.
During the past few years members of the group have set themselves individual projects, including a local project set in Crouch End, self-portraiture, landscape, fantasy and reality, the ordinary and the extraordinary.
This is the group’s eighth exhibition which features a variety of images by 17 photographers expressing their individual interests and visual ideas.
